Self Harm\Suicide

There are many reasons why a person may harm themselves. The common ones are when the person feels overwhelmed by events which they do not have the psychological resources - personally or in their social circle- to cope with. Or it can be caused by events which bring about unexpected change to the person's environment such as the death of a loved one or the loss of their job or their home. Those unexpected changes can debilitate a person ability to effectively use coping skills to manage their thoughts, emotions, or behaviours which can precipitate them towards self-harm or suicidal thoughts.

At Mau Therapy, I offer immediate, short-term support in which behavioural, cognitive and counselling techniques are employed to minimise the usage of maladaptive coping strategies and to avoid complete psychological breakdown in people who has been (or is in danger of being) overwhelmed by events.

It's important to know that support is available for you if you are struggling with self harming or suicidal thoughts. To avail my service, you can get in touch through the contact form below. If you know someone who is self harming or contemplating suicide, the best way to help them is to encourage and support them to seek professional help as early as possible.
